REMEMBERING ANDRE STOKES (1978 - 2024)

Updated: Sep 15

The original member of A.C.M.G. and former co-host of the TALK TIME LIVE podcast

It was just brought to my attention by a family member that one of the original members of not only A.C.M.G. but also the TALK TIME LIVE podcast passed away on August 29, 2024, due to complications after a boat trip with his family.

Andre Stokes was one of the original admins of the previous Facebook group that would be later known to be A.C.M.G.

Andre would later work with me on the original podcast alongside other co-hosts. One of them was Jo-Ann Carr who also had an untimely passing. For what it's worth Andre was a fun person to be around with a bit of a mischievous persona.

That mischievous persona was both a good and bad thing depending on the person. I won’t go on to say that everything was bliss between us as it wasn’t, and things turned for the worse, which led to his departure from A.C.M.G. and the TALK TIME LIVE podcast.

I often look back at those times, wishing that things would have been different between us and that we would have worked together to make A.C.M.G. even better than it was.

One of the most memorable things I remember he asked me during one of our meetings was what would I do if none of them were around to do the show with me.

Unbeknownst to him I was already doing solo shows when none of them were around to do them, which eventually led to me hosting the show on my own.

But I never wanted to do the show alone nor did I ever want to distance myself from him or the others. I put together this group and the podcast to unite and bring people together with like minds for what we all love and create a brand and platform developed by Black people in an industry (at the time) that lacked little representation of us in it.

I will continue to wonder what could have been if we all had the same grind and will to want. He leaves a family which includes his twin sons now as he has transitioned. While he was not always the most reliable person in my life it is not to say that he did not have value in it.

He saw something in me enough to provide me with a platform to create something that I knew could grow into something special. Something that he or others couldn't even fathom me doing.

I can only be grateful to him for allowing me to do what I do best in this world. So, if anything to take from this it would be to not take your life or the life of others for granted. You never know what can come of it all.

With that said may he rest in peace and thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of Andre Stokes.

Here is a throwback of the last interview Andre was a part of with the one and only T.C. Carson (the original voice of KRATOS).
